Producer Background:
Stefano Lubiana Wines is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable practices and high-quality wine production. Utilizing organic and biodynamic viticulture, the winery aims to create wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Derwent Valley while maintaining ecological stewardship.

Vintage Notes:
The 2023 vintage experienced excellent growing conditions, with warm days and cool nights that facilitated optimal ripening for Pinot Noir grapes. This climate allowed for the development of vibrant flavours and aromatic complexity while retaining the essential acidity for balance.

Vineyard Notes:
The Derwent Valley vineyards are known for their diverse soils, elevation, and cool maritime influence, which together promote slow ripening and enhance the fruit's natural qualities. These conditions are ideal for producing high-quality Pinot Noir, resulting in wines with depth and character.

Winemaking Notes:
After hand-harvesting the grapes, they undergo gentle crushing and fermentation with wild yeasts in open fermenters. A portion of the wine may be aged in French oak barrels for a period (typically 10-12 months) to develop integrated flavours and complexity. The philosophy focuses on minimal intervention to allow the fruit to shine.

Flavour Profile:

  • Appearance: Bright ruby red with a clear, vibrant hue.
  • Nose: Aromas of red berries, cherry, and raspberry, complemented by floral notes and subtle earthiness, with a hint of spice from oak.
  • Palate: Light to medium-bodied and elegantly structured, showcasing flavours of ripe red fruits, a touch of spice, and silky tannins, leading to a smooth, lingering finish.

Food Pairings:
Enjoy the Stefano Lubiana 'Primavera' Pinot Noir 2023 with:

  • Poultry: Perfect with roasted chicken or duck, enhancing the dish's flavours.
  • Pork: Complements pork dishes, especially those with fruit glazes or sauces.
  • Vegetarian Dishes: Pairs well with mushroom risotto or roasted vegetable dishes, providing a delightful contrast.
