The Second in the series of special limited-edition releases of Lagavulin for the annual Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival, held 14-16 September in 2012, with concerts in the Malt Mill at Lagavulin distillery and other venues across the island.
The 2012 bottling comprised of 624 individually numbered bottles drawn from a single refill sherry butt (No. 1894) filled on 7th May 1997. Bottles were only available to personal visitors at the Lagavulin distillery with a limit of two bottles per customer.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Clear, golden amber.
Aroma: Buttery and fruity with almond nuttiness and a good wack of sherry.
Taste: Huge palate with creosote-like smoke, vanilla and linseed oil.
Finish: Smoky, salty coal tar finish.
