Alcohol Policy

Buyers must be at least 18 years old and located outside a designated dry zone to purchase alcohol.

Matured exclusively on Islay, primarily in ex-Bourbon casks and a small number of wine casks, The Bruichladdich Eighteen is the epitome of Bruichladdich's signature unpeated house style.

Full bodied and beautifully fragrant, notes of honey, butterscotch, and citrus orange open on the nose, with a medley of tropical fruits and toasted mellow oak lingering on the palate.

"This is an ultra-high provenance single malt. Every single element of The Bruichladdich Eighteen - from the specific harvest and barely varietals used to the exact casks it has matured in - is fully traceable. Which, for a whisky of this age, is quite incredible. 18 years ago, we distilled spirit from our first ever crop of home-grown Islay barley and our passion to diversify and champion our cereal growing programme has never wavered. It’s about making delicious whisky with real provenance which also benefits our community – and The Bruichladdich Eighteen is the embodiment of this ethos." - Adam Hannett, Head Distiller

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Apricot.

Nose: Beautifully fragrant with ripe peach and honeysuckle, hints of violet and lavender come through on the nose – balanced with vanilla and creamed coconut from the toasted American oak. A medley of tropical fruit comes to the fore, with melon, peaches, apricots, and vibrant citrus, while the influence of the oak brings honey, caramel vanilla custard and rich crème brûlée.

Palate: Luxurious and viscous, honey, butterscotch and fresh fruits coat the palate, followed by cereal notes of sweet, syrup soaked porridge, barley sugar and toasted oak. Vibrant tropical fruit and the subtle presence of toasted oak with a hint of leather follow, with honeycomb adding to the smooth, sweet character.

Finish: The quintessential character of Bruichladdich single malt comes through on the finish. The 18 Year Old has the classic minerality for which Bruichladdich is renowned, perfectly balanced with oak, stoned fruit and a delicate floral bouquet.

" Minty and floral on the nose, with dried strawberries, candle wax, lemon, lime sorbet, and sweet vanilla. On the palate, it’s pleasantly soapy, with dark fruits, crème brûlée, citrus, and bitter chocolate. The finish is mid-length but delicious. Well-integrated oak intertwines flavors of marshmallow and citrus. Overall there is great complexity and plenty for the palate to explore. It makes you want to keep drinking it, for sure." - David Fleming, Whisky Advocate (94 Points)

"There’s no peat here, don’t get me wrong, but 30 years of exposure to wood has imbued this whisky with a savory, slightly winey character that is at once austere and deft on its feet. The fruit arrives eventually, late to the party: apples, lemon curd, even some apricot, all held in beautiful check by the muscles of the barrel. Notes of dark chocolate and a slight touch of coffee bean give the finish a lush dessert-like quality to close things out. Never once did I want to put this whisky down. And so, I chose not to." - Christopher Null, Drinkhacker (95 Points)
