We take nothing for granted when crafting our single malt whiskies, they all get the same care and attention, and 2022's 25 Year Old Cask Strength is no different. The aging in bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts enrich Year 2022’s 53.4% vol of Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength with enduring flaovour and a smoothness that we know you expect from our 25 Year Old Cask Strength.

What reward is most befitting a longsuffering 25 year wait? We think it's certainly the 2022 Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength single malt. This exquisite 53.4% vol whisky blends the famously rugged Laphroaig flavours with a mellow sweetness achieved after maturing for a quarter of a century in ex-Bourbon casks and large Oloroso sherry butts.

For an experience equivalent to tasting it at the source, the whisky is extracted, filtered, and bottled at its natural strength – this takes place after the maturing of the mix. A smooth mouthfeel is achieved with the notes of spices, peat smoke, apple, and vanilla, all of which together create a well-rounded, full-bodies presence on the palate. Without the patience required for this dram, the finish would not have the same layering and long finish and it would not be the premium whisky it is known to be.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Pale gold, a peek of the complexity created by the careful aging process.

Nose: Restrained smoky flavours and aromas of sweet vanilla, wood spice and smoked bacon, plus a hint of dried fruit.

Palate: Layered and creamy, with flavours of pepper, iodine and peat smoke along with hints of green apple.

Finish: Lingering with waves of smoke and a peppery conclusion.

"It is highly recommended to add a couple of drops of water to this Scotch to allow it to really do its thing. This opens it up to rich sherried and nutty notes that play well with the classic, peaty seaside flavors of this brand. A pipe tobacco smoke binds it all together, leaving a long, luxurious finish." - Amanda Schuster, Distiller
