Ichiro's Double Distilleries is a vatting of both Chichibu and Hanyu malt whisky. This award winning 'pure malt' was matured in Japanese oak and bottled at the Chicibu distillery.
Chichibu was founded by the eponymous Ichiro Akuto after the closure of his grandfather's distillery Hanyu in 2000. This expression was blended and bottled at Chichibu in 2010.
"A biscuity sweetness, followed by oak and honeyed apples create a wonderful, bourbon-like nose. Starting off a little spicy, the palate brings a unique combo of young and old oak, from Chichibu and Hanyu, which is pleasant but the strength of the young oak throws off the balance a little.
