Armagnac Sponge 49 Year Old 1972 Edition No. 2 Single Cask Bas Armagnac 700mL -9%
In stock
Weight: 1.400 kg
210 Bottles Only Armagnac Sponge Edition 2 is a 49 year old, 1972 vintage Bas Armagnac. Composed of an equal parts mix of two sibling casks and bottled at natural cask strength of 42.9%.  This is essentially a luscious old Armagnac cosplaying as a 1972 Glen Grant. Obscenely bloated with honeys, honeycomb, pollens, flower nectars, sweet fruit cordials and elegant rancio. It is illegally delicious and will induce socially awkward states of pleasure. You will hate it so please don't buy any.  " E xcellent catch by Angus and, once again, a showcase of the fact that, as has also been seen for example at Cadenhead's, true small...

210 Bottles Only The latest bottling in our Notable Age Statements series is a single cask 1963 Armagnac from Chateau de Gaube, aged for 58 years and bottled at natural cask strength.  Extremely classical in style, it leans more heavily towards a rustic and earthy Armagnac profile dominated by dark fruits, layers of earth, tobaccos and chocolate, and many wonderful honeyed and fruity complexities.  A glorious aged spirit that is the epitome of class, pleasure and decadence in a glass!

In stock
Weight: 1.400 kg
180 Bottles Only If our 1972 Armagnac could be equated to an old Glen Grant, this rather more subtle, fine-boned and complex old Grande Champagne Cognac of similar pedigree could be said to resemble a venerable aged Linkwood or Strathisla. Anyway, all you whisky hoarding grainiacs should stop messing about with whisky (except our bottlings, naturally) and give these Cognacs a spin! Dried fruits, earths, tobacco and rancio with a slender drizzle of honey over the top - there are abundant pleasures to be had with these old spirits.

More affable than the 1989 vintage, this version, three years its junior, delivers with an open heart from the very first moment. Its consistency is matched only by the fruity, finely woody and gourmet complexity shown by the three small scenes that constitute the stages of the tasting, both intimately intertwined and at the same time totally independent. Grosperrin 32 Year Old Cadenhead Grande Champagne Cask Strength Cognac 700mL -5%
In stock
Weight: 1.400 kg
Well Jean Grosperrin did not distill this, this is Grande Champagne sourced from Grosperrin’s, who, in turn, sourced it from some local growers. What’s sure is that this is a very good pedigree – and an excellent sourcing strategy. Tasting Notes: Colour:  Copper gold. Nose:  Not extremely expressive, but it’s to be said that high-strength cognacs remain very unusual. Having said that, what we get is pretty perfect, with something oriental (incense, ylang-ylang) and some blood oranges or something. Some old calvados or apple brandy too. Domfrontais with a lot of pears? With water: smells of the countryside down...

In the XIXth century, englightened Anglo-Saxon amateurs appreciated clear cognacs for their finesse and delicacy, to the point of ordering from Hennessy some of the pales  eaux-de-vie  from Cognac. It was in returning to the source that Hennessy created Hennessy Pure White, the most paradoxical and innovative of all spirits of the Maison Hennessy. Hennessy Pure White originated from four crus with a dominance from the Fins Bois, from which it gets its  lightness of aroma and flavour. The  eaux-de-vie  used in the blend are floral and fruity. They are immediately identifiable from the selection made by the Master Blender, by their...

Widely regarded as one of the greatest Cognacs, Hennessy has a tradition of producing Cognacs of the highest quality. The VSOP from Hennessy is the epitome of balance and class and is a blend of 60 different eaux-de-vie aged up to 15 years. " The hollow bouquet emits only fey scents of vines and green vegetation. The palate entry is very sweet, nearly syrupy; the midpalate is the best phase as rounded flavors of dark toffee, nougat, and maple work nicely together. Finishes sweet, sap-like, and acceptably woody ." - P.P, Wine Enthusiast
