A whisky that’s strongly influenced by the American oak barrels and sherry butts it matures in. The creamy and vanilla notes are significantly intensified, resulting in a sweet and spicy character.
Sweet and fruity with layers of red apple and butterscotch.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Rich golden amber.
Nose: Notes of spiced red apple, plum jam, and honeydew with hints of cinnamon biscuit, caramel, and custard.
Palate: Notes of freshly baked strudel, golden syrup, butterscotch, and raspberry jam, balanced by ground ginger spice.
Finish: Sweet, juicy and slightly spicy.
"This whisky is very accessible and ticks all the boxes for a classic Speyside single malt like Aberlour. It is not the most complicated whisky or innovative, but it does not need to be. The whisky’s characters are classic and timeless. The Aberlour 13 Years Old Double Cask Matured will keep their fans happy with this. The whisky exhibits a lovely balance of sweet, fruit and malt with evolving woody spices adding depth." - Whisky For Everyone
"The recipe combines whiskies matured in American oak and oloroso sherry casks, and serves up hot chocolate powder, red apple, white pepper, oak char, and Asian spices on the nose. The flavor trajectory starts with red apple, sultana, and butterscotch, rolling in baking spices, especially nutmeg and cinnamon, and ending with creamy vanilla as the spices subside. The finish is slightly drying with flavors of baking chocolate and dusty spices." - Jonny McCormick, Whisky Advocate (90 Points)
