2025 Batch
There's a moment in our coastal warehouses that visitors never forget; tasting whisky straight from the cask. No dilution. No polish. Just spirit in its purest form. This year's 12 Year Old Cask Strength was inspired by that experience and the thousands who have sipped straight from the cask at our bay-side distillery.
Matured entirely in our coastal warehouses, this limited edition cask strength release draws on a combination of predominantly second fill Oloroso casks with just enough first fill and refill influence to add depth, not distraction. It’s a whisky that delivers clarity, structure and restraint.
With no added colour, this dram retains its natural deep gold hues.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Golden raisins and apricots are balanced with toasted nuts and a light floral note.
Palate: Malty sweetness, soft oak, and dried fruit intertwine with sultanas, hazelnuts, and gentle spice.
Finish: Oak spice and light tobacco, with a gentle touch of sea salt and cocoa powder.
"The press release described this one as lighter, more coastal, and with more structure than prior releases. While I don’t have another release to compare it to, the palate is certainly gentle especially for a cask strength, sherry-heavy single malt. That’s not to say the flavors are thin. Far from it. This one is packed with rich, sweet notes of barley sugar, baked apricot, and marmalade, all infused with a gentle warmth that barely registers as cask strength. The midpalate shows a bit of that coastal kiss Bunnahabhain is famous for with salted nuts and an almost lemony brightness before returning on the finish to warmer baking spice, pipe tobacco, candied orange peel, and hot cocoa. The standard 12 year old is no slouch, but this bottling takes it to another level. And then some." - Drew Beard, Drinkhacker (95 Points)
