You’d never imagine that a high-end flavored whisky aged 23 years could be filled with such bold flavor... but Crown Royal Golden Apple has rewritten the rules. An exquisite blend of whiskies aged 23 years and the taste of golden delicious apples, paired with decadent notes of creamy vanilla, toasted oak and cinnamon – coming together in a display of bold richness that refuses to be ignored. Crown Royal Golden Apple is designed for refined, high-energy celebrations, best served neat or on ice.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh apples and caramel.
Palate: Creamy vanilla, toasted oak and baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg).
Finish: Warm and lingering with caramel and light spice.
"With much surprise, I would recommend this spirit. It is smooth, polished, and appropriately viscous, much more like an aperitif than a traditional whisky. Crown Royal clearly spent a lot of time getting the balance right and does not do the 23 year aged whisky an injustice with the flavoring." - Jeffrey Nitschke, The Whiskey Wash
"Come to think of it, I’m glad Crown Royal is adding apple flavor to a 23-year-old whisky. It kind of feels like a flippant response to the veneration that whisky this old is generally given, and why not? Let’s hope Ardbeg adds hot cinnamon fireball flavor to its 25-year-old single malt next. Okay, maybe that’s going too far. But whisky is meant to be enjoyed, and if there’s an extra-aged category to flavor it’s probably Canadian because it just doesn’t command the same prices or respect as single malt scotch or bourbon. Even if you’re a flavored whiskey doubter, like I once was (and generally still am), give this bottle a try." - Jonah Flicker, Robb Report
