Introducing "The Drink Society x Goodwater" our latest single barrel exclusive.
The story of how this barrel came about is quite simple. In December 2024, Amber Beverages gave us a call one day saying they have a spare barrel after we had already committed to Death By Chocolate. We said sure, let's taste the sample and see. It just so happened that the day we received the sample we also had to be at Goodwater that night for an event.
Following the event, we decided to give it a try and everyone was simply blown away. So much so, that Nate and Kia immediately wanted to collaborate on it, which is how this barrel started back just before Christmas in 2024.
Little did we know back then that this would turn out to basically be a 12 year old (7 days short) and one of (if not) the oldest private barrels in the last decade and the oldest ever in Australia.
When we originally tasted it, it was just over 66% however we were told with the extra year of maturation the humidity in Kentucky had dropped the ABV down to what it was eventually bottled at now 64.4%.
This particular barrel was pulled from an ISC Level 3 American Oak cask which was rested on rack 3 of the 4th floor in Rickhouse EE of Heaven Hill's famed Deatsville campus, where it spent a total of 11 years, 11 months & 3 weeks coming of age.
Rickhouse EE happens to be Parker Beam's personal favourite rickhouse and produced some of the most iconic Parker's Heritage releases like "Promise of Hope".
Recently it was just announced that Deatsville campus was closing which makes this even more special as it will be one of the last single casks to ever come out of it.
For the custom artwork we took inspiration from the old early 2000's Elijah Craig 18YO tins that had that 50/50 split design and we thought it was perfect as a basis to have the two different brands represented.
