Renowned Master Distiller Billy Walker has a knack for selecting exceptional casks, and his choice for Batch 6, Cask 3717, is no exception. This 14-year-old single malt was distilled on March 18, 2009, and finally bottled in July 2023. With only 302 bottles available, it's a rare treasure for whisky enthusiasts seeking a distinctive and sophisticated tasting experience.
Billy Walker handpicked this particular barrique (2009, #3717) from a vineyard in Southwest France. This French oak cask had previously held Sauternes, a sweet dessert wine from the Bordeaux region. Apart from imparting a golden hue to the whisky, this cask has added elegant flavors of rich cocoa, soft honey, and warming ginger to this complex GlenAllachie whisky.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Polished gold.
Nose: Candied pears, pineapple, warm apple crumble, dark chocolate, honey, and coconut.
Palate: Honey, baking spices, dark chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and ginger.
Finish: Sweet and long.
