This Glenfarclas from Speyside spent its entire aging period in Oloroso Sherry Cask casks. It initially appears mild and creamy, but then allows the spicy sherry flavors to come into their own. The taste of chocolate and grapes with a hint of light toffee follows. Then comes the sherry sweetness with nuts, oak wood notes and hints of dates. The whisky is pleasant, complex and balanced in the mouth.
Bottled on June 16, 2022 with 47.3% vol. Cool filtration and colouring were not used.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Copper (M7).
Aroma: Complex sherry notes with sweet raisins and dried fruits as well as forest honey. Plus vanilla and spices.
Taste: Full-bodied and creamy on the tongue. Again a strong sherry influence with dried fruits and chocolate. Plus oak wood, baking spices, red berries and dates.
Finish: Long-lasting, with remaining notes of hazelnuts, raisins and dark fruits.
