Inspired by the secrets of a Highland heirloom, Glenmorangie Cadboll brings a sumptuous sweetness to Glenmorangie's collection.
Extra-matured in superior French barriques which previously held wines such as those of the Muscat and Sémillion grapes, the delectably rich single malt whisky honours the splendour of the Cadboll Cup. This enigmatic wine cup, which entwines Scottish artistry and mysterious French influences in its design, was treasured for generations at our Highland home, near the Glenmorangie Distillery. That shared heritage is celebrated in a whisky of tempting, dessert-like flavours, which wonderfully hint at the sweet wines of the past that the Cadboll Cup might once have held.
Created by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation, Cadboll Estate Batch 2 is crafted only from barley grown in the fields surrounding the distillery’s Highland home, and distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills. It is aged in hand-selected, first-fill American White Oak ex-bourbon casks. Located along Dornoch Firth along Scotland’s east coast, the area surrounding the distillery where the barley is grown is protected from hard inland frosts and extremes of weather and is essentially in its own microclimate. In these conditions, every harvest is unique and brings subtle flavour differences to each batch of The Cadboll Estate.
This second batch has distinctive creamy vanilla candy on the nose, with hints of orange blossom, ginger and cinnamon alongside poached pear in syrup, and zesty lemon.
"The second release using Glenmorangie's estate-grown barley. There's wood spice and waxiness on the nose as well as licorice, dried leaves, and oat crackers. With water, it turns fruitier with notes of lemon wafers, mango, pineapple, and raspberries. Lush texture on the palate brings matcha latte, chocolate pudding, candied orange, butterscotch apple, coconut, and spice. Chocolate and spice carry over to the finish.
