Cleverly named, Bourye is a blend of straight rye and straight bourbon whiskeys that are aged for a minimum of 10 years. This limited-release boasts notes of dried bing cherries, brown butter shortbread with grilled peaches, French vanilla mouse, candied ginger and cedar. Exclusively available at the distillery, this year’s Bourye is one to try before it runs out.
Bourye is best enjoyed around a campfire while looking at the Milky Way.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Crisp green apple with maple syrup drizzle, butterscotch squares, toasted almond biscotti, sage, balsam de Peru, sun-weathered oak.
Taste: Dried Bing cherries, brown butter shortbread with grilled peaches, French vanilla mousse, candied ginger, cedar.
Finish: Warm chai tea with grated nutmeg.
"High West Bourye 2024 is what a classic American blended whiskey should drink from start to finish. You can’t find much to fault about it, and while it doesn’t break the taste profile barrier in stunning ways, it isn’t needed in this case – you know what you’re getting as soon as you open the bottle." - Nino Kilgore-Marchetti, The Whiskey Wash
"Touches of maple and cinnamon raisin bread add the brightest touch of sweetness as the finish arrives — though a heavy layer of more savory spices is hard to shake. If you like your Bourye heavy on the rye, don’t miss this release." - Christopher Null, Drinkhacker (90 Points)
"I have several of High Wests ryes but I think Bourye is my favorite, to date. It also consistently towers all over a lot of the other standard ryes that I have. Plus I'm partial to the jackelope, so there's that." - Bottle Raiders (90 Points)
