A subtly sweet and smoky whisky with a light gold colour direct from the cask. Bringing together smooth vanilla notes with the uniquely aromatic flavour of Orkney heathered peat, it’s as full of contrasts as the Orkney landscape, where moors and rolling farmland meet dramatic, sea-sculpted coasts.
A great whisky for sitting back and enjoying the view. Sweet and smoky on the nose, with a creamy note of vanilla crème brûlée. Baked apples and a hint of nutmeg on the palate, with a lingering finish of subtle smoke from our Orkney heathered peat.
We love the sweetness that comes from first-fill sherry-seasoned American oak casks, so we let them take the lead when harmonizing the casks that go into Land of Orkney . The flavour is rounded out with refill casks for a smooth and balanced finish.
The rugged beauty of the Orkney landscape has drawn creative people here for thousands of years. But at Highland Park, the land of Orkney is more than just an inspiration. Since 1798 we’ve been using heathered peat from Hobbister moor to dry our malts, resulting in the unique, subtly smoky flavour of our whisky.
Pair with a traditional Scottish cranachan (for non-Scots, that’s a dessert made from layers of fresh cream, raspberries, oats and whisky) will bring out this whisky’s sweet, fruity notes, but its vanilla warmth will also pair nicely with a slice of Victoria Sponge cake — if you happen to have one to hand.
