It’s whiskey as nature intended it—bottled straight from the barrel at its full proof. Intense, smooth, and remarkably varied, Barrel Proof is bottled at anywhere from 125 to 140-proof, taking Jack’s trademark vanilla and toasted oak flavours to bold new levels.

An exclusive bottling for La Maison Du Whisky.

This version dubbed Sweet Forward reveals Jack Daniel’s in a particularly rich and generous light. The notes of spice bread and pistachio cake and the wealth of fruit jams found in the palette of aromas and flavours are the perfect example of this. Divine fragrances of orange blossom provide the link between the nose and the palate.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: rich, deep. The beautifully oxidative and rancio first nose (mango, orange, apricot) is also floral (iris, lily), chocolatey, nobly woody and spicy (saffron, new oak). Allowed to breathe, various jams and jellies (apple, peach, quince) underscore the aroma palette’s generosity. Fragrances of spice bread, marmalade and orange blossom add even more style to a sequence that alone embodies the world of whiskey.

Appearanceorangey copper.

Palate: lively, resolute. The attack not only combines chocolate, ginger, cinnamon and candied citrus fruit (lemon, orange) but is also rich (almond pastry, pistachio cake). At this exact moment, the creamy and earthy mid-palate (gentian root) bursts to light. The complex end of the palate gives lots of airspace to vegetable notes (squash, courgette, artichoke).

Overalllong, firm. Settled in its fruity, vegetable stance, the start of the finish invites us to go picking oranges and mandarins. To drive the point home, orange blossom fragrances fill the air. On the retro-nasal olfaction, toffee, cardamom pod, cocoa powder and citrus fruit zest spread across the sides of the palate. The empty glass is fruity (raspberry), herbaceous (rosemary, pipe tobacco) and spicy (ginger).
