Flavour is a journey that takes time to master. When it came to crafting John Walker & Sons XR 23 we wanted for more than two decades to allow indulgent sweetness to bloom and delicate floral aromas to blossom.
This flowering of flavour has inspired us to create a whisky that celebrates the delicate power and beauty of the famed Peony and Orchid of Asia. These elegant wonders of the natural world are considered symbols of prosperity and refinement, all reflected in John Walker & Sons XR 23, a rich whisky with an elegant character.
To craft this rich, creamy whisky - with a deliciously sweet core and lightly fragrant notes - we have hand-selected some of the rarest whiskies from the finest distilleries across the wilds of Scotland, including the legendary Speyside distilleries of Cragganmore and Linkwood. Each whisky has been carefully watched over as it matured for at least 23 years, including some very rare expressions from the now silent distillery of Port Dundas.
The slow, skilful maturation of these whiskies is reflected in the aromas which gradually unfold like blooms of Orchid and Peony opening in summer. Spiced apple if wrapped with soft aromatic teas, before giving way to sweet coconut.
Sip and let a world of flavour emerge. Warm, indulgent sweetness swirls with spiced vanilla, hints of dark chocolate and coconut cream. Apple blossom and a whisper of sweet summer fragrance flowers briefly, before gentle wood spice and soft smoke drift across your taste buds. A lingering finish brings warmth, hints of toffee and an elegant touch of tropical fruit.
