Reviews:
"Layered in apricot, roasted nuts, caramel, and beautiful vanilla...
it was delicious!" - Fred Minnick
"There aren’t as many bottles out there that I’d recommend in the $100 range, but Joseph Magnus seems like it’s worth it to me." - Mike & Mike, The Bourbon Culture (92 Points)
"A very nice expression. The finishes work great in harmony." - David Morrow, The Daily Pour (89 Points)
"What may come across as a mad science experiment in regards to barrel finishing, turns out to be just the right formula in the case of Joseph Magnus bourbon." - Jordan Moskal, Breaking Bourbon (Well Above Average)
"There's a lasting chewiness to each sip; a dry finish with rounded off edges, if that makes sense. I'm not a wine guy, but the grape-stained barrels here impart a lot of flavor beyond your standard vanilla/oak/tannins. Those weave their way into a proper bourbon in a spirit of cooperation rather than combat. There's just so much to unpack here, but all of it is good. If you're looking for a bourbon to sit and take your time with, Magnus should be your jam. As long as you're OK with a little cognac and sherry in the mix." - Christian D'Andrea, For The Win
"I’m a huge fan of the Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend and decided to give this one a shot to see if it stacks up ... Let me tell you…. it does ... You can certainly notice the $100 price difference between the two, but both are exceptional whiskeys." - Brad, Secret Whiskey Society
"The palate doesn’t let you down, offering a relatively racy attack that speaks first of citrus, chocolate, and cloves. As it develops in the glass, the bourbon takes on more wine-forward notes, which meld interestingly with the darker coffee notes and the sweeter vanilla and caramel characteristics that bubble up after some air time. The finish echoes barrel char from the original time in cask, giving the rich and somewhat oily whiskey a relatively traditional bourbonesque exit ... Really fun stuff. Worth seeking out." - Christopher Null, Drinkhacker (90 Points)
