Indulge in the Jumpin Jack Shiraz 2023, a vibrant and approachable expression of Shiraz that delivers both freshness and depth, offering a modern take on the classic Barossa Valley style.

Key Information and Highlights:

  • Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia
  • Variety: Shiraz
  • Vintage: 2023
  • Alcohol: 14.0%
  • Awards: N/A (new vintage release, yet to earn major accolades)

Producer Background:

Jumpin Jack Wines is a relatively new but exciting producer in the Barossa Valley, focused on crafting wines that are expressive of the region’s unique terroir. Their goal is to produce Shiraz that’s approachable and fruit-forward while maintaining a level of sophistication and balance. With the 2023 vintage, Jumpin Jack aims to create a wine that offers immediate enjoyment yet has the structure to age gracefully.

Flavour Profile:

  • Appearance: Bright, deep crimson with purple edges.
  • Nose: Aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and raspberry, with a touch of fresh herbs and subtle peppery spice, reflecting the vibrant fruit character of the vintage.
  • Palate: The palate is lively and juicy with layers of dark fruits, including blackberry, plum, and a hint of red currant. A balanced acidity gives the wine a refreshing lift, while the fine tannins provide structure and a smooth finish. There are underlying notes of spice, chocolate, and a touch of oak that add complexity and depth.
  • Conclusion: A youthful, energetic Shiraz with excellent fruit concentration, balanced by refreshing acidity and smooth tannins. It’s a delightful and approachable wine, perfect for early drinking but with enough structure to develop further with age.

Inspiring Food Pairing Ideas:

The Jumpin Jack Shiraz pairs beautifully with a variety of foods, making it a versatile choice for many occasions. It complements grilled meats like chicken skewers, barbecued sausages, or a juicy burger. It also works well with pasta dishes such as spaghetti with marinara sauce, or pizza topped with pepperoni or mushrooms. For cheese pairings, try semi-aged cheeses like Gouda or Manchego, or opt for a creamy goat cheese to enhance the wine’s fresh fruit character.
