Maker's Mark's Oldest Ever Bourbon

Our long-awaited and first ever, older expression. The 2023 Cellar Aged release blends 11- and 12-year-old bourbons bottled at cask strength, but it’s about much more than the age statement on the bottle. It's about what's inside.

It starts off as every bottle of Maker's Mark® does in our traditional warehouse before spending years in our LEED-certified, temperature controlled limestone cellar for a further aging. This is where Cellar Aged develops a deeper, richer, and even more complex flavor.

Aging our whisky for over 10 years wasn't something we ever did. Not because we didn't believe in it but because we hadn't found our way of doing it. Maker’s Mark® Cellar Aged defines an older whisky that’s distinctly Maker’s. By embracing both the unique impact that our warehouse and cellar maturation have on flavor, we've created an older expression that is richer and more complex whilst staying true to the founder's taste vision of bourbon without the bite.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Dark stone fruit, caramelized sugar, toasted oak.

Taste: Balanced with big oak, dark vanilla and fruit.

Finish: Velvety texture, long and complex with caramelized barrel notes and baking spices.

"The nose has an aroma of brown bread that's been spread with apple butter that's heavy on the spice mix (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and a hint of ginger). The palate takes on richer notes of buttery caramel fudge, walnuts, dried cherries, and hot cinnamon. There's a fair amount of viscosity and flavors of sweet wheat cereal on the midpalate, leading to a sumptuous, rich and spicy finish that exhibits a gentle tinge of charred oak and leather." - Amanda Schuster, Distiller (93 Points)

"The highest aged release ever from Maker’s Mark gives fans what they’ve been asking for." - Breakingbourbon.com

"For now, I’m incredibly pleased, and I cannot wait to see this product again at the end of the year when I am considering my whiskey of the year for 2023, as it will absolutely be in the running.  If I gave a ‘kickass whiskey award’ this bottle would get it." - John H. The Bourbon Finder

"Maker’s Mark fans have clamored for years for older, age-stated whiskey. I’m happy to report the wait was very much worth it. The Loretto-based distillery has taken its distillate to new heights, and Cellar Aged should immediately become the gem in the Maker’s Mark lineup." - David Thomas Tao, VinePair (95 Points)

"At long last, an ultra-aged expression from Maker’s, and it pulls you right in with aromas of cooked cherries, black cherry pudding, and a hint of peppermint. The palate is deliciously spiced but mellow, carrying crème brûlée and light nuttiness, as well as tobacco leaf and orange peel. A dash of cinnamon powder on the finish, coupled with another aromatic burst of cooked cherry and expressed orange." - Julia Higgins, Whisky Advocate (94 Points)
