The McPherson Three Vineyard Shiraz 2023 is a vibrant and approachable Australian red that showcases the best of Central Victoria’s diverse terroir. Crafted from a blend of three carefully selected vineyards, this Shiraz offers a lively, fruit-driven profile with a touch of spice and finesse.
Key Information and Highlights:
- Region: Central Victoria, Australia
- Producer: McPherson Wines
- Vintage: 2023
- Alcohol: 14%
- Volume: 750ml Bottle
Ingredients:
Made from 100% Shiraz grapes sourced from three distinct vineyards, the grapes were aged for 10 months on oak staves in tank, allowing the wine to develop depth and complexity while maintaining freshness. The result is a beautifully balanced red that highlights fruit purity and subtle spice.
Producer Background:
McPherson Wines is a family-owned winery dedicated to producing vibrant, fruit-forward wines that reflect the character of their vineyards. With a focus on regional expression and minimal intervention, McPherson aims to craft wines that are enjoyable, versatile, and true to their Australian roots.
Vintage Notes:
The vintage in Central Victoria delivered ideal ripening conditions, resulting in grapes with ripe, concentrated flavours. The short ageing on oak staves imparts gentle spice and structure without overpowering the fruit, creating a wine that is lively and immediately enjoyable.
Vineyard Notes:
Sourced from three different vineyards across Central Victoria, this Shiraz benefits from the region’s warm days and cool nights, which preserve natural acidity and fruit vibrancy. The varied vineyard sites add complexity, with each contributing unique aromatic and flavour characteristics.
Winemaking Notes:
Grapes were fermented and then aged for 10 months on oak staves in tank, a technique that subtly infuses the wine with spice and smoothness while maintaining fruit freshness. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, keeping its wild, authentic expression.
Flavour Profile:
- Appearance: Deep purple with a vibrant hue.
- Nose: A delightful fusion of mulberry, raspberry, and soft pepper spice, creating an aromatic and inviting perfume.
- Palate: Ripe and juicy, bursting with flavours of blackberries, plums, and a subtle, spicy kick. The wine’s generous fruit weight is balanced by a gentle touch of spice and soft tannins, making it both accessible and satisfying.

This Shiraz is made to be enjoyed with food. Pair it with:
- Charcuterie boards featuring cured meats and cheeses.
- Char-grilled steak or other grilled red meats.
- Rich, spicy tomato-based pasta dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese or Lasagne.
