Tasting Notes:

Palate: Walnut, caramel, and vanilla creme.
Finish: Brown sugar, ancho chili, and a cinnamon spice finish.
"Metallica's standard Blackened with the proof turned up to 11. The nose is nutty and sweet with pralines, caramel corn, brown-sugar butter, and vanilla-almond ice cream. There's more spice on the palate, with Red Hots, toasted nuts and oak, candy apple, and pepper. The finish is rich and warming, carrying over many of the spices. Water elongates and opens the palate. This demonstrates excellent consistency from nose to finish and quality development over time." - Ted Simmons, Whisky Advocate (91 Points)
"Each batch, or volume, is intended to be unique, offering a different flavor profile and coming in at varying proofs. Volume 01 is a surprisingly light, vibrant, and easy drinking whiskey considering the fact that its cask strength. Dark fruit, vanilla custard, and brown sugar are most prominent, with a mixture of spices and other flavors that lean sweet and weave their way throughout the whiskey. The finish is somewhat abrupt, which is typically a negative, but somehow it works for this whiskey making it all the more drinkable. All in all it’s a very approachable whiskey that anyone would be hard pressed to dislike." - Nick Beiter, Breaking Bourbon
