2023 Release

Mature in age and truly exceptional in quality, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon has earned its place as an enduring favorite of the most discerning whiskey connoisseurs. The “Best American Whiskey” according to Food & Wine magazine, our 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon represents the culmination of over a decade of patient aging in specially chosen, new charred American white oak barrels.

When a private barrel selection bottling of this whiskey sold for £166,000 (US$ 209,462) at an auction in London on July 12th 2020, it shattered the previous $78,000 record for a barrel of bourbon that had been set at a Christie’s auction.

Tasting Notes:

Big and bold dark toffee and caramel, charred oak, maple syrup, vanilla.

Batch Specific Reviews:

"I just really can't shake how much this drinks like a dusty, and I mean that from multiple angles. It has this amorphous, leathery and herbal funk throughout that I consistently have the hardest time describing because the taste is so distinctly “old whiskey.” But it also reminds of those 86/90 proof older releases (like Old Fitz Prime) that, yes, are flavorful, but also drink thin and leave you craving a higher proof version. Delicious, yet leaves you wanting all in one glass." - District Drams

"The nose leads with sorghum molasses, raspberry tart, dark fired tobacco, glove leather, creamed corn, soda bread, macadamia nuts, chocolate graham cracker. Yeah, all that and more." - Steve Coomes, Bourbon Banter

"I'm thoroughly impressed by this one; it's put on one of my favorite flavor profiles I've had in a many months. Early on in my exploration of this bottle I called it a "modern dusty" and I stand by that statement today. It has characteristics that remind me of whiskeys that were on the market in the late 80s and early 90s when lower barrel entry proofs were more common. This may or may not be the case for this release, but it does a damn good job at transporting me back to experiences I've had with some of those old bottlings most won't get the chance to try today." - Nick Anderson, Amongst The Whiskey (5/5)

"Good whiskey can’t be rushed, and this 10 year old from Michter’s took even longer than expected to be ready, as the Louisville producer pushed back its release from 2022 to 2023. A grippy start quickly leads to maple candy, cocoa powder, and sweet berry notes, giving it a lively quality on the palate. It finishes like a good cognac, with orange peel and great length." - David Savona, Whisky Advocate (93 Points)

"Previous Michter’s releases, including the 2021 release, have leaned a bit too heavily on the toasted notes and barrel char. While there’s still plenty of that in the latest offering, things do seem more balanced with more depth of flavor, reminiscent of the consistently impressive pre-2020 bottlings. Worth a whole extra year of waiting? Probably." - Drew Beard, Drinkhacker (90 Points)
