This limited-edition expression celebrates Nikka’s rich history, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, and reflects the expertise and artistry that have defined the brand since 1934.
Crafted to perfection, this anniversary release captures the essence of Japanese whisky, with its balance of tradition and innovation. The Nikka Nine Decades is a testament to the master blenders’ meticulous skill, showcasing a harmonious blend of malts and grains from Nikka’s two iconic distilleries: Yoichi and Miyagikyo.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Rich and layered, with notes of caramelized pear, baked apples, and hints of citrus zest. Subtle touches of peat smoke and sandalwood add depth to the fragrance.
Taste: Smooth and elegant on the palate, with flavors of honeyed malt, vanilla, and spiced oak. The rich mouthfeel is balanced by a touch of tropical fruit, citrus, and a light peppery spice.
Finish: Long, lingering, and slightly smoky, with notes of toffee, toasted almonds, and a whisper of peat that leaves a lasting impression.

As with all well-aged Nikka whiskies, I've come to learn that it always, always pays to give it time to open up, and this was once again the case with the Nikka Nine Decades - yet, it did so in a very interesting manner. As it opened up, it took on a more lifted and airy and brighter quality, offering up aromatic and fresh orchard fruits, yet texturally it seems to melt into something more syrupy and richer.
