Rum

Over time, rum became associated with piracy and the infamous pirate flag, the Jolly Roger. This association likely began because pirates would often raid ships carrying rum, and because rum was often used to buy supplies and ammunition.

  • Dominican Republic Rum: Dominican rum is similar to Puerto Rican rum in terms of its flavour profile. It is also made from molasses, and the best Dominican rums are aged in oak barrels for a minimum of three years.
  • Virgin Islands Rum: Virgin Islands rum is characterised by its smooth, mellow flavour.

Next comes a whisper of creamy caramel followed by vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and of course, those subtly sweet undertones of orange.
