Stauning Smoke is the quintessence of the distillery's innovative New Nordic-whisky philosophy: A mildly smoked single malt whisky made from pure local ingredients, malted on open floors, smoked over locally harvested peat and heather found in the landscape surrounding Stauning, double-distilled in small flame-heated pot stills and finally aged on 1st Fill wine and spirits casks.

The result is an elegant and refined whisky with a gentle smoky taste and a complex character that oozes of the dunes, the heath and the wind by the North Sea. A thoroughbred terroir whisky that gently will blow you away.

Our flagship smoked single malt whisky, made from barley harvested in Stauning Smoked using local peat & heather, floor-malted at the distillery, matured for 5-6 years in a mix of 1st Fill bourbon casks, 1st Fill Madeira casks, 1st Fill Jamaica Rum casks and Virgin American Oak casks, double-distilled in small, open-fired pot stills, unfiltered and 100% handmade at the distillery using nothing but local ingredients.

Tasting Notes:

The taste of buzzing bees and the heather of the moorland in a bottle: A gentle bonfire smoke blends with elegant notes of citrus and honey. In the mouth, a rich taste of tobacco, nuts, vanilla and fresh herbs opens up.

"What's the price of fun? How many b*** 'points'? The question is, would I buy a bottle? Certainly not, I would buy a 6-case and present my five best friends with a bottle. Each." - Serge, Whisky Fun (88 Points)

"A dense smoky nose of charcoal, ashy soot, smoked fish, and lobster pots, with dunnage floors and hints of dark toffee sweetness, make this live up to the promise of its name. Danish peat and floor-malted local barley create a palate of nutty chocolate, cocoa, blackened wood, and pepper, with delayed blackberry and cinnamon, then it comes full circle back to chocolate, leaving a smoky finish." Jonny McCormick, Whisky Advocate (90 Points)
