Balvenie initially launched its Single Barrel range in 2013 and was discontinued in 2022. Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie re-introduced the Single Barrel First Fill bottling in 2024.
A beautifully balanced whisky. Rich, honeyed and smooth with a long, lingering finish, Single Barrel is an exceptional expression of everything that makes The Balvenie.
No more than 300 bottles are drawn from a single barrel with each one numbered to highlight which barrel it is drawn from. Bottles from different barrels will exhibit their own unique, subtle and intriguing differences in taste.
Single Barrel 12-Year-Old is a unique single malt drawn from an exceptional first-fill ex-bourbon barrel that not only epitomises our house style but exemplifies The Balvenie’s dedication to traditional craft and quality.
Our Single Barrels are brought over from America and are made of a species of oak, called Quercus Alba. More commonly known as American oak. When used for the first time to mature Scotch whisky, they are termed first-fill.
