Wild Turkey Rare Breed Batch WT-03RB is a legendary, vintage expression of Wild Turkey’s flagship barrel-proof bourbon, bottled at 108.2 proof (54.1% ABV). Produced between 2004 and 2014, it stands as the longest-running batch designation in Rare Breed history.
What sets the WT-03RB batch apart from modern variants is the historical barrel entry proof. It is highly regarded by whiskey enthusiasts on platforms like Reddit's r/bourbon community because it includes older Wild Turkey stocks distilled at lower entry proofs (107, 110, and 115). This gives the liquid a richer, oilier mouthfeel and a distinct "classic Turkey funk" that modern, higher-proof releases (like the current 116.8 proof version) struggle to replicate.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Displays exceptional maturity, opening with classic aromas of caramel, vanilla, and honey, layered alongside seasoned musty oak, leather, mint, and baking spices.
Palate: Full-bodied, creamy, and viscous. It features rich toffee, brown sugar, orange peel, and dark stone fruits, balanced by a sharp kick of rye spice and earthy tobacco.
Finish: Long, warming, and slightly dry, dominated by heavy oak wood tannins, cinnamon, and lingering black pepper.
