Part of Batch 2 in the Virgin Oak Series, this malt gets its complex, zesty flavours from casks made of Chinquapin oak  (Quercus Muehlenbergii)  sourced from the Northern Ozark region in Missouri, air dried for almost four years, then toasted to medium level. Batch 2 of Glenallachie's Virgin Oak Series is made up of ten year old whiskies (the last batch were twelves). This golden bronze malt was first matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels before undergoing additional maturation for approximately 18 months in hogsheads made of French oak  (Quercus Robur)  sourced from the Haute-Garonne region. The fine-grained wood was air-dried for fifteen months before being filled. The finishing period has added silky tannins, sweet spices and fruit notes to what is described as a delectable, earthy single malt.
