Wine is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in the world and comes in a variety of flavours. Whether you're a wine expert or just starting to explore the many options, CellarsMarket has something special for you!

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes. Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol, carbon dioxide, and heat. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts produce different styles of wine.

Wine has been produced for thousands of years. The earliest known production dates back to 6000 BC in Georgia. Today, wine is produced all over the world. Europe is the largest producer of wine, followed by South America and then North America. Over time, wine became more popular and was even used as a form of currency. Today, wine is enjoyed around the world for its unique flavour and texture.

There are many different types of wine, including red, white, sparkling, and fortified. Red wine is made from dark-coloured grapes and has a higher concentration of tannins. White wine is made from light-coloured grapes and has a lower concentration of tannins. Sparkling wine is made by adding carbon dioxide to still wine, which makes it fizzy. Fortified wine is made by adding brandy or another distilled alcohol to wine.

Wine is often enjoyed with food. It can be used in cooking as well. Red wine is used in many sauces, such as beef bourguignon and coq au vin. White wine is used in fish dishes, such as poached salmon.

There are many different wine regions around the world, each with its own climate and soil type that produces unique wines. Here are some of the most famous wine regions and their signature wines.

  • Bordeaux, France: Bordeaux is known for its red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. The best Bordeaux wines are complex, with layers of different flavours and aromas.
  • Tuscany, Italy: Tuscany is home to some of the world’s most famous red wines, including Chianti and Super Tuscan wines. These wines are made from Sangiovese and other native Italian grape varieties.
  • Napa Valley, California: Napa Valley is one of the premier wine regions in the United States. The climate is perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and other grape varieties. The wines produced here are world-renowned for their quality.
  • Mosel, Germany: Mosel is a German wine region known for its white wines made from Riesling grapes. These wines are typically very dry with high acidity levels.

The Serpentine Shiraz is a luxury gifted to us. Bendigo produces such high-quality shiraz, we have the good fortune to be making a wine this potent, and this indulgent. The Serpentine is a wine built on being luscious, full of heft, exuberant, and damn good drinking. The Serpentine is only made in certain quality years. Aroma: This is a nose that leaps from the glass, potent sweet raspberry, thick plum juice, sits above a richness, chocolate and earth. Palate: The palate is velvety, tannin holds this wine upright with concentrated fruit, lifted by almost 50 days on skins. A finesse still holds in this wine, with subtle spice...

Bin 128 has been using Shiraz fruit sourced from Coonawarra since the first release in 1962. To enhance the regional qualities of the wine, a mixture of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads is used for maturation. This method was refined during the 1980s when Bin 128 transitioned from using American oak to French oak. Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz is a cool-climate wine that provides a fascinating contrast to the richly concentrated warm climate Bin 28 Shiraz with each vintage release. The fruit for Bin 128 is sourced from Coonawarra's unique terra rossa soils, which exemplify the perfume, transparency and seductive nature of cool-climate...

Weight: 1.000 kg
Bin 138 draws its inspiration from the wines of Southern Rhône, where Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro (Mourvèdre) are blended in varying proportions to create full-bodied wines possessing rich and heady perfume. Each year fruit for Bin 138 is sourced from the Barossa Valley from well-established vines, including some old vineyards. After fermentation, each varietal is matured separately in mostly seasoned oak hogsheads. The finished blend is assembled just prior to bottling. The first vintage release of this varietal blend was the 1992, labelled ‘Old Vine Barossa Valley’ – it was then elevated to Bin status with the 1998 vintage. Year...

Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a sub-regional expression that is unmistakably Penfolds in character. Conceived from the ancient soils of Marananga, which lie very close to the centre of the Barossa Valley floor – slightly to the North West, where warm dry conditions and rich red soil provide the backbone to some of the region’s best-known wines. Each release delivers a contemporary shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new – crafted in accordance with the traditional Penfolds method.

Bin 2 was first released in 1960, yet was temporarily discontinued in Australia in the 1970s at the height of the white wine boom. The original Bin 2 was an ‘Australian Burgundy’ style (despite its Rhône varieties) – typically a soft, medium- bodied wine based on shiraz. The Bin 2 blend of shiraz and mataro is still relatively uncommon in Australian table wines. Also known as monastrell or mourvèdre, mataro was introduced to Australia in the 1830s. Often used in fortified wine production, this grape is widely planted in the Barossa Valley. It is valued by winemakers for its blending attributes, adding complexity and palate grip. Interest...
