Returns
We have a strict 14-day return policy. We will not accept the return of any items 14 days after the day of purchase. Items being returned must also be unused, in the original packaging, and in the same condition as the item was when received by you. You are responsible for paying the shipping costs of any returned product. Where refunds are provided, we will deduct the cost of return shipping from the refund.
We may, at our sole discretion, offer a partial refund if the item you return is not in its original condition, damaged, or not complete, in any way. However, we may provide a full refund if the change in condition or damage is a result of our error – strictly at our own discretion. We will also consider refunds if the delivery of your order was delayed due to our error.
Refunds and Late or Missing Refunds
You will receive an email notification from us when we have received and assessed the condition of your returned item. All approved refunds will be processed via the original method of order and make take a number of days to be applied. If you have not yet received your approved refund, please first contact your financial institution in the first instance. Please note that processing times may vary from bank to bank.
The Octomore 13.1 is a highly peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Bruichladdich distillery. This whisky is distilled from the 2015 harvest of 100% Scottish Mainland barley.
Peat Levels: The barley used for this whisky is malted to a remarkably high 137.3 parts per million (PPM) of peat, making it incredibly peaty, consistent with Octomore's reputation for super-heavily peated expressions. It is matured in high-quality American oak casks.
Flavor Profile:
Color: Described as "Golden Hebridean sands," which suggests a warm, amber hue.
Nose:The initial aroma is characterized by sweet nutty smoke with barley sugar and ripe fruit.
There are notes of apricot syrup, ripe pear, and malty elements like barley flour and Crème Brulee.
Sweetness comes through with honey, tablet, and vanilla notes from the American oak.
The peat smoke is described as delicate yet powerful, with hints of charred oak, boot polish, leather, and earthy undertones.
Palate:
The texture on the palate is viscous, and it's reminiscent of densely smoked grains.
There's a mix of smoked granola with honeyed fruit.
Subsequent sips reveal complexity with notes of smoked apricot jam, barley flour, peat embers, burnt heather, gooseberry citrus, and sweet Turkish delight.
The influence of oak is evident with oak chips, sugared almonds, and hints of chocolate-limes, along with spicy aniseed.
Adding a drop of water intensifies the smokiness and brings out the whisky's minerality.
Finish:
The finish begins with sweetness but eventually fades to an earthy, mossy note on the palate.
Dry heathery peat smoke lingers.
There are salty-citrus and floral notes, including geranium and rose, which emerge gently to round off the tasting experience.
