Located in the Saintonge land (French area of the Charentes), the Merlet family selected it’s blackberries with contracted producers to create this liqueur. It is crafted through an artisanal method of fruits infused in neutral spirit, in order to genuinely deliver their aromas.

Today, the Merlet family produces a range of ten fruit liqueurs whose excellence is based on a unique know-how. The family masters all the stages of the process, from the selection of the fruit to the production and bottling. The quality of the fruit is the most important element for the quality of the liqueurs. Thanks to the experience accumulated by growing its own blackcurrant, Merlet controls the ripeness of all the fruits used for its liqueurs, coming from scrupulously selected farmers. The fruits used to make the liqueurs are macerated in super-fine alcohol to extract all the flavours. Both the quantity of fruit and their perfect ripeness guarantee the exceptional concentration of the aromas of the liqueurs.

The Merlet family has been elaborating cognac for merchant houses since 1850. Five generations and over 160 years of experience as distillers have led the family to produce under their own name. Gilles Merlet actually started in the ’70s the cultivation of blackcurrants to diversify the distillery’s activities, and bottled fruit liqueurs first under his own label. It is in 2010, with his sons Pierre and Luc, that they began producing cognac under their brand, alongside their liqueurs. The family owns its own vineyard and distillery, therefore controls its wine sourcing, distillation, ageing, blending and bottling.
