Uisuki was founded through a deep love for and an invested interest in fine spirits, particularly that of whisky. We found our roots in 2013, originally trading as a whisky distributor exclusive to Japanese malts and Japanese spirits more broadly – including sake and gin. With connections to 18 of the 20 most popular active distilleries in Japan at the time, it wasn’t long before we expanded our reach.
Over the last decade, we have been working tirelessly to bring you the best malts from all across the world. From the highlands of Scotland to the valleys of Tasmania, and the Bluegrass country of America, we’ve sourced every bottle worth knowing about, so you too can enjoy the best of the best.

This release is one of the first two of the "Nikka Discovery" series for the U.S. market. The series explores techniques that have been honed by Nikka since it was founded in 1934, leading up to its 90th anniversary in 2024. This expression is crafted solely from batches of peated malts, to examine something different from the distillery known for its lighter, fruitier whiskies. It is non chill-filtered and bottled at 48% ABV, with 20,000 bottles available as of November, 2021.
Nose Rich and complex. Subtle notes of toast, dry peat and twigs highlight the distinguished character of the first nose. Allowed to breathe, the peat becomes more intense, almost meatier while simultaneously taking on a light veil of smoke. In the climax, exotic fruit and fresh fig bring lots of breadth and energy to the palette of aromas.
Palate Distinguished and dynamic. The attack is just as exotic, while also revealing both honeyed and floral notes. As for the peat, it finesses itself into every nook and cranny. Covered in a fine layer of ash, the mid-palate is deeply rooty allowing the expression of a refreshing minerality.
Finish Long and well-balanced. At the start of the finish, a chocolate, vanilla and spicy peat takes centre-stage. Tangy flavours of ripe fruit slowly spread across the taste buds. The empty glass precisely replicates the aromas of cigar, wildflowers and black liquorice.
