BOLGHERI ROSSO DOC Bolgheri Rosso DOC is the youngest red wine produced by Fittipaldi women. A wine with a strong bond with the land of origin: Bolgheri, a faithful companion in everyday life. Pleasant and talented, fresh and impulsive. A fruity, complex but easily appreciable wine. An everyday wine suitable for many combinations, capable of interpreting the territory in an absolutely personal way. Bolgheri’s red wines are generally a base blend of Cabernet (Sauvignon or Franc) and Merlot, often with additions of Syrah, Petit Verdot and, on rare occasions, Sangiovese. Over recent years, the number of wineries that produce monovarietal wines using one of the three main grape varieties has continued to increase. These are red wines with great intensity and great aging potential. Distinguishing aromas are of sweet, ripe dark fruit with balsamic notes of Mediterranean scrub, a characteristic of Bolgheri’s terroir. The palate is well-rounded and supple; the sweetness of the fruit is perceived mid-palate, vibrant with fresh acidity; a silky, dense tannic texture; and a generous, lengthy finish. There are often savoury notes that evoke sensations of the nearby sea.

Donne Fittipaldi
Bolgheri,Tenuta La Pineta,Italy.

Maria Fittipaldi Menarini discovered Bolgheri in the ’90. She fell in love immediately with the place, so much that she decided to buy propriety here: Tenuta La Pineta, along the Via Bolgherese. In the beginning, Maria didn’t mean to become a wine producer, but the mood and the vitality of the territory brought her to start this new path in 2004 when the first vines were planted.

Today, after 15 years, she runs this estate with her 4 daughters: Carlotta, Giulia, Serena, Valentina, and the “Donne Fittipaldi”.

Production of Bolgheri DOC wines is permitted within the appellation’s territory that coincides with the political boundaries of the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno, with the exception of the stretch of coastline west of Via Aurelia.

The area is a natural theatre with the Colline Metalifere (hills with a rich variety of metallic mineral resources) to the east that gradually slope downwards towards the coastline. Thick forests cover the surrounding hillsides maintaining and protecting the rich and complex ecosystem. The tiered hillsides slowly descend towards the central arena; an area of flat terrain where most of the vineyards grow. Bolgheri faces centre stage: the Tyrrhenian Sea dominated by the Tuscan archipelago with Corsica visible on the horizon.

The “Consorzio per la Tutela dei Vini DOC Bolgheri e DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia” is the officially recognized consortium by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry Policies and Tourism’s for the promotion, protection and management of Bolgheri DOC and Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC wine appellations.

The Consortium was founded in January 1995 shortly after the issuance of regulations governing the production of red wine in 1994.
In 2014, the Consortium received the Ministry’s highest level of recognition that authorized it to operate Erga omnes, or on behalf of all producers.
Consortium producers: 70
Representativeness of the Consortium: 99.1%
Vineyard area: 1,370 hectares, of which 1,190 DOC and 180 IGT
